Thursday, April 15

  Making a Successful Career Change
Hear from a panel of UK alumni as they share tips about changing careers mid-stream and advice they would give to others in that soul searching process. After the panel, enjoy casual networking, drinks and hors d’oeuvres with fellow alumni.

  “The Pajama Game”
The University of Kentucky department of Theatre presents this bright and riotously funny tale. Experience theatre at its very best in this sparkling, Tony Award winning, Broadway smash hit adapted from Richard Bissell’s novel “7-1/2 Cents.”

  Academic Symposium: Preparing Physicians for the next 50 Years
The College of Medicine, in conjunction with its yearlong 50th anniversary, is hosting “Preparing Physicians for the Next 50 Years,” This academic symposium is designed primarily for physicians, but topics covered by featured speakers will be applicable to all health care practitioners and health system professionals.

  Hall of Distinguished Alumni Recognition Dinner
Every five years the University of Kentucky Alumni Association recognizes a select group of outstanding alumni and honors them by inducting them into the Hall of Distinguished Alumni.
LOCATION: Marriott Griffin Gate Resort
TIME & COST: 6:00 p.m. Reception, 7:00 p.m. Dinner; $50 per person; RSVP by April 9, 2010

  UK Legacy Family Picnic
Join fellow UK Legacy families at the UK Alumni Association tent. Enjoy food from O’Charley’s, music, games and prizes at this casual picnic. UK Basketball great, Derek Anderson, will be in attendance to mingle and sign autographs. In addition, you can meet the UK mascot and enjoy games, a petting zoo, pony rides and inflatable activities including a jumbo slide and obstacle course.

  Balloon Glow
Get a close-up look at more than a dozen hot air balloons as they light up the night sky at this annual UK event. Inflatable games, crafts and activities will also be available.
LOCATION: E.S. Good Barn Field
TIME & COST: 7:30 p.m. Event is free; inflatable and craft tickets can be purchased on site.  Click here for information

Please note that the Balloon Glow has been canceled due to anticipated high winds. The UK Legacy Family Picnic, however, will still be held as planned.

Join other live music enthusiasts for the Battle of the Bands hosted by The School of Music Student Service Organization.

Saturday, April 17

  Breakfast With The Works at Keeneland
Enjoy an all you can eat southern breakfast buffet and watch the horses’ morning work out as the sun rises over the historical and scenic Keeneland race track. Bring the children to participate in family friendly activities and a live demonstration at 8:45 a.m. in the Paddock.

  Back to Class: Kentucky Vices
Hear from the Director of the Martin School of Public Policy and Professor of Economics William Hoyt as he discusses the economic impact that vice products have on Kentucky and learn about the economics of the pending casino gambling legislation in the state.

  Back to Class: Horses 101
While you’re back on campus, go back to class and learn about the one animal that encompasses the state of Kentucky’s image: horses. Fernanda Camargo-Stutzman of the UK College of Agriculture Department of Animal and Food Sciences will educate you on the basics of horses.

  Campus Lunch Crawl
Prepare to eat like a student and get a taste of more than just nostalgia as you board the double decker bus for a lunch crawl stopping at three of UK campus’s favorite eateries. The first stop will be the famous Tolly-Ho for cheddar tots and cheese fries. Next is a visit to Ramsey’s for the main course, a renowned Kentucky Hot Brown, and then on to everyone’s favorite ice cream parlor, Graeter’s, for dessert! This event will sell out quickly due to limited bus space.

  Martin School Day at the Races
Martin School students, alumni and friends are invited to Keeneland Race Track for an afternoon of racing fun!
LOCATION: Keeneland; 4201 Versailles Rd., Lexington, KY 40588

  Kentucky Timbers
In the spirit of Arbor Day, enjoy a guided tour with Jim Lempke, curator of native plants, to discover the wondrous world of Kentucky native trees growing at the UK arboretum.

  “Ews” and Microbrews
Wildcats ages 21 and above are encouraged to savor the taste of Kentucky Ale beers at this microbrew tasting. Enjoy light snacks, mingle with fellow alumni, and hear from brew master Ken Lee. While the adults partake in the tasting, little wildcats and anyone interested in creepy crawling things will be entertained on the arboretum lawn with fun activities including a bug demonstration by students from the UK Entomology Department.

  Kentucky Baseball Tailgate
Join fellow alumni at this casual, action-packed tailgate with food, fun and fabulous prizes. At game time, take a short walk to Cliff Hagan Stadium to cheer on the Kentucky Wildcats baseball team as they take on the Florida Gators. Cost includes the tailgate, as well as admission to the game.

Join fellow students, alumni, friends and faculty at the historic Spindletop Hall to celebrate another successful year for the Martin School. Enjoy company, food and drink in the beautifully appointed New Orleans Room.

  Alumni Weekend Breakfast and Open House
Before heading home, stop by King Alumni House for a continental breakfast. Take a self-guided tour of the house, flip through old yearbooks in the library, and say farewell to friends, old and new.

  University Club of Kentucky Golf
Tee up on the Wildcat Course at the beautiful University Club of Kentucky. Cost includes a cart. Space is limited and this is not a tournament. After April 1, call 859-977-1235 and mention Alumni Weekend to reserve a tee time.

TIME & COST: Club is open from dawn to dusk. $45 per person.

  UK Baseball Game
Cheer on the Kentucky Wildcats as they take on the Florida Gators.
LOCATION: Cliff Hagan Stadium
TIME & COST: 1 p.m.; tickets may be purchased at Cliff Hagan Stadium the day of the game or through the UK ticket office in advance, $5 per person; $2 for children ages 6-17 and seniors 65+. Children ages 5 and under, free.

  UK Symphony Band Spring Concert
Hear a performance from the UK Symphony Band at the spring concert, which features concert band classics, as well as contemporary pieces for wind band.

  UK Jazz Combos
The UK Jazz Combos program features music from the past, present, and future of jazz. Three different student groups will play music that showcases group interaction and improvisation.

  Keeneland Racing
Enjoy the excitement of live horse racing at Keeneland. General Admission tickets are available for purchase at the gate.

  Open Recreation
During the hours of operation during Alumni Weekend Apr. 15-18, UK Alumni Association members receive complimentary access to the UK Johnson Center recreation facility. Amenities include a multi-purpose gymnasium, four–lane elevated jogging track, fitness/conditioning center, aerobics studios and racquetball courts. Members must show their member card or key tag and may bring up to two guests at $5 per guest.

TIME & COST: Regular hours of operation. Free for UKAA members; $5 for guest

  Open Swim
Enjoy open swimming including access to lanes for lap swimming and space for shallow wateractivities. Swimmers must be 48” in height or taller and only checks are accepted at the center as payment for guests.
LOCATION: UK Lancaster Aquatic Center
TIME & COST: April 15-16 and April 18 during hours of operation. Free for UKAA members; $5 for guests
